This is your UAE guide to stay safe as a new or seasoned resident or tourist of the UAE.

Alcohol Consumption Laws The consumption of alcoholic beverages is permitted only in licensed venues across the UAE. However, it is important to note that Sharjah is a dry Emirate, where the consumption or possession of alcohol can lead to severe penalties. Drinking in public spaces where alcohol is not licensed is strictly prohibited across all Emirates.

Zero Tolerance for Drinking and Driving The UAE enforces a zero-tolerance policy for drinking and driving, with penalties that can include fines of up to AED 20,000. If you plan to consume alcohol, we strongly recommend using safe transportation options such as Careem, Yandex, Uber, or Bolt. Local taxis are also widely available and easy to hail across most areas.

Exceptional Service Standards The UAE is renowned for its outstanding level of service.

  • Restaurants, grocery stores, and pharmacies offer doorstep delivery services.

  • Apps like Noon, Talabat, and Deliveroo provide 24/7 delivery services for a wide range of products (excluding cigarettes).

  • For added convenience, Cafu is a popular app that allows you to order fuel delivery directly to your vehicle, eliminating the need to visit petrol stations.

Respect for Public Conduct Maintaining decorum in public is taken seriously:

  • The use of profanity can result in a fine of AED 10,000.

  • Physical altercations are prohibited and can lead to a fine of AED 5,000, up to six months in jail, and in some cases, deportation.

Safety and Quality of Life The UAE is considered one of the safest countries in the world, thanks to strong enforcement of laws and widespread public respect for regulations. Incidents of violence are extremely rare, contributing to a peaceful and secure living environment.

Cleanliness and Environmental Responsibility The UAE is recognized as one of the cleanest nations globally. To maintain this standard:

  • Neglecting to wash your vehicle can result in fines.

  • Littering is strictly prohibited and penalized.

These regulations have created a clean, comfortable, and visually soothing environment for all residents and visitors.

Vision for Growth and Happiness The UAE’s remarkable growth is a direct result of visionary leadership and a clear commitment to improving quality of life. The nation's dedication to resident well-being is demonstrated by the establishment of a Ministry of Happiness — making the UAE one of only four countries worldwide to have such an institution.

While here in the UAE, stay compliant with the rules and regulations, stay safe, and if you ever need any help understanding what you can and cannot do, reach out to us at INREACH Export Solutions LLC.
